STEM: science, technology, engineering, mathematics

A scientific journey that begins in nature

Our STEM activities treat science, technology, engineering and mathematics not separately but as parts that complete one another.

Our school’s programme includes activities such as the Nature and Ecology Workshop and Mathematics in Nature. Students ask questions, observe, set up experiments and interpret their results.

Four areas, one curiosity

  • ScienceObservation, hypothesis and experiment.
  • TechnologyUsing tools to make things and solve problems.
  • EngineeringDesigning, trying and improving.
  • MathematicsMeasuring, counting, finding patterns and making connections.

How WeDo STEM

  • It starts with curiosityWe begin with children’s own questions.
  • It moves forward by tryingWe work with real materials; nature is used like a laboratory.
  • It makes connectionsScience, mathematics and other lessons are linked to one another.
  • It ends with sharingFindings are explained, discussed and developed.

Exploring as a team

STEM activities are mostly carried out in groups. Students share roles, listen to different ideas and come up with a shared solution.
