Serpil Orman Middle School: Academic Success, in the Heart of Nature

Can there be academic success at a forest school? Our answer is very clear: yes, because here nature and academic discipline do not weaken each other; on the contrary, they strengthen each other.

In Grades 5–8, we teach the national (MEB) curriculum with a deep-rooted and well-planned academic discipline. With at most 20 students in a class, no young person gets lost in the crowd; we closely follow each student’s potential, pace and gaps, and plan our road map accordingly. All of our first graduates placed in Türkiye’s top 5.2% in the 2025 LGS.

Knowledge learned in the classroom becomes lasting when it is put into practice in the field, in the forest and in the workshop. Instead of memorising, our young people question, find solutions to the challenges they face and take responsibility for their own learning. They use Turkish and English competently, not just as subjects, but to understand the world, to think and to connect with other cultures.

Our approach

From Grade 5 onwards, our students are accompanied by experienced teachers who prepare them for the LGS exam and support them with study sessions. Our school is affiliated with the Ministry of National Education; education is carried out in line with the curriculum set by the Ministry.

Academic work moves forward together with the bond built with nature, art and science. Students prepare not only for exams but also for high school and their future academic journeys.

A disciplined academic structure and individual follow-up

Students learn by moving to different classrooms for each subject with their subject teachers. This structure supports the development of academic discipline while strengthening the skill of taking responsibility.

  • Education in subject classrooms with subject teachers
  • Gradual preparation for the LGS process from Grade 5
  • A learning process supported by study sessions
  • Regular follow-up of academic and social-emotional development

Students who know their goals and take responsibility

Alongside academic success, Forest Middle School aims to develop students' skills in planned study, self-management, critical thinking and goal-oriented progress. Students learn to take responsibility for their own learning and to use their potential in the right direction.
