From idea to product

3D design activities bring design and production together: students first imagine, then model, test and improve.

Within the 3D Design, Arduino and Software Club, design thinking combines with coding and electronics projects, and students make their own projects.

Design thinking: five steps

  • UnderstandGet to know the need and the user.
  • ImagineCome up with many ideas and sketch them.
  • ModelTurn the idea into a three-dimensional model.
  • TestTry out the prototype and get feedback.
  • ImproveRenew the design with what you have learned.

DesignSkills

SkillWhat does it build?
Spatial thinkingThinking about objects in three dimensions and rotating them in the mind.
Measurement and proportionUsing mathematics inside a real product.
Patience and iterationSeeing that the first attempt is not the end result and that improving is part of the process.
Combining with electronicsBringing a design to life with coding and electronics projects.

Information on the software and production equipment used will be shared by the school.
